Grandmaster

·         10TH Degree = Ju-Dan- Solid Red Belt

·         9th Degree – Ku-Dan – Solid Red Belt

Master

·         8th Degree – Hachi-Dan 12/4 ratio of Red to White Panels (end is longer in red than in white)

·         7th Degree – Shichi-Dan 10/6 ratio of Red to White Panels

·         6th Degree – Roku-Dan 8/8 ration of Red to White Panels

Red and White Belts = as the Master advances in rank, the amount of red vs white on the belt changes to reflect more red than white. It is not uncommon for a Master to wear his or her black belt while training.

Degree Markers on a Black Obi:

·         5th Degree = Go-Dan 5 Red Bars

·         4th Degree = Yon-Dan 4 Red Bars

·         3rd Degree =San-Dan 3 Red Bars

·         2nd Degree = Ni-Dan 2 Red Bars

·         1st Degree = Sho-Dan   1 Red Bar or Plain

·         Jr. Black Belt = Jr. Sho-Dan (if under age of 16)
